Emergency Communications

There will be a meeting of the Emergency Communications Group meeting on Thursday February 26th, 2010 at 19:00 hours. This is an important meeting and all members and those who are interested in Emergency Communications are urged to attend. Training and familiarization with the Kenwood 710 emergency radios will be on the agenda. The manual for the radio has been attached as an attachment for your information.

Please bring your emergency binders. Thanks.

On Tuesday, January 12 at 4:53 PM, Haiti time (2153) UTC a magnitude 7.0 earthquake hit 15 kilometers west of Port-au-Prince, the nation's capital. Communications in and out of Haiti have been disrupted. The RAC requests that all Canadian Hams be aware of the emergency operations on the following frequencies: 7.045 3.720 MHz (IARU Region 2 ets), 14.265, 7.265 and 3.977 MHz (SATERN Nets), and 14.300 MHz (Intercontinental Assistance and Traffic Net). The International Radio Emergency Support Coalition (IRESC) is also active on EchoLink node 278173.

A simulated Emergency Test will be held Saturday January 23, 2010 commencing at 1000 hrs. This will be an exercise to practice deployment and response to an event in our area of responsibility. The exercise briefing will start at 1000 hours at the Club station. Please remember your ECG binder and personal items. There will be a short de brief at the club station after the exercise.
